Nim’s Island Educator GuideFebruary 15th, 2008 by Paul Martin
Anything can happen on NIM’S ISLAND, a place ruled by a young girl’s imagination. It’s an existence that mirrors that of her favorite literary character, Alex Rover – the world’s greatest adventurer! But Alexandra, the author of the Rover books, leads a reclusive life in the big city. When Nim’s father goes missing from their island, a twist of fate brings her together with Alexandra. Now, they must draw courage from their fictional hero, Alex Rover, and find strength in one another to protect NIM’S ISLAND.
Meet Walden Media’s Partners
To expand NIM’S ISLAND as a teaching resource, we’ve partnered with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration National Marine Sanctuary Program and the National Wildlife Federation, tapping their educational expertise and strong belief in stewardship of our natural resources and the wildlife with which we share those resources.
The mission of NOAA’s National Marine Sanctuaries is to serve as the trustee for the nation’s system of marine protected areas, to conserve, protect and enhance their biodiversity, ecological integrity and cultural legacy. National Wildlife Federation’s mission is to inspire Americans to protect wildlife for our children’s future. For more information and resources, go to www.nwf.org/education.
