The movie has yet to be releases in South Africa, coming out 18/12/2009, but seemingly only in selected theatres. It seems that they learned from there mistakes as the adverts are different, though only advertised in theatre.

Will is the focus and it is aimed at a more mature audience. The extracts that they had had the cinema LOL, and it was an Audience for “The Ugly Truth” which was a really great movie.

My wife and I are definately going to watch bandslam, we waited long enough for it and were scared it was going straight to DVD here in South Africa. I think the other people that saw the ad will probably be there too.

Bandslam is a great movie…shame to people who hate it just because of vanessa hudgens!!!

I completely agree with all of you. Bandslam was one of the most satisfying movie-going experiences of the summer, if not the year. It’ll likely end up on my Top 10 of 2009 list as well. It’s seriously worth seeing. It’s a shame it’s leaving theatres so quickly…

Actually,the movie would do worse in BO if Vanessa was not in it.The whole marketing was so ridiculous and completely wrong.It just made the movie look like HSM4,which disgusted a large number of people.And people who went to see this movie were Vanessa’s loyal fans or people who were convinced that the movie was NOTHING like HSM.Moreover,Vanessa is the biggest reason why this movie attracted so much attention even it has been considered a major flop in BO after it released.That’s because the media,the critics thought this was a Vanessa’s movie(in fact, she’s just a supporting role in it) and gave it a chance to check out Vanessa’s performance.
Ironically，everyone who saw the movie was surprised how good the movie actually was.Wrong marketing,wrong release date are the reasons that destroyed this movie.Anyway,the director and the cast should still be proud of their performance.It’s beyond debate that Bandslam is one of the best American movies this summer.

The main problem this film has is Summit entertainment destroyed it by seriously bad marketing. The trailers made it look like a Disney channel movie and they turned off a lot of people who thought this was another HSM type of movie when it is nothing like it. The film is actually funny and smart and I loved it, they aimed the movie at little girls when in fact they should have been targeting the older groups of teens and actual adults. Also the trailers made it seem as Vanessa’s character was very similar to her HSM one when that is not even true. She is talented and does well when given a actual 3 dimensional character to work with. It’s a shame that people will not give this movie a chance as they think it will be bad but I wish people will stop being so narrow minded and give this film a chance.

Bandslam was an amazing movie!! I loved it and cant wait to see it again !! I truly recommend it to people..I really believe it can do well if only people would give it a chance to.. I agree..they should make the dvd a two disc with features with it Bandslam totally rocked!!!! ..plus I wouldn’t mind it if they changed the name back to Will.
