Walden Media casts Milford in film

Walden Media Inc. has met with city officials, rented warehouse space on Old Gate Lane and has employees scouting locations here, Robert Gregory, the city’s economic development director, said Wednesday.

Location manager Mike Grosky said the film company is especially interested in finding a large house to rent for the three months of shooting that is expected to begin in March.

The new film, “Relativity,” concerns the Ferguson family on the eve of the parents’ 35th wedding anniversary. “The Fergusons bring their children together to let them in on a big secret that sends shock waves through the household and sets off a series of hilarious and moving events,” according to a news release.

The film is not listed on the Internet Movie Database, though Walden Media has several films in pre-production extending into 2010. The New Hampshire-based company released “Mr. Magorioum’s Wonder Emporium” last month. The film starred Dustin Hoffman and Natalie Portman.

The company also produced “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” the first of three in “The Chronicles of Narnia” by C.S. Lewis. “The Bridge to Terabithia” was also a Walden Media film.

Grosky said that the house that the company needs here must have “large rooms, a large front and back yard and be available for approximately three months.”
