David Cunningham to Direct Dark Is Rising

They have tapped David Cunningham to direct Susan Cooper’s novel ‘The Dark is Rising,’ which focuses on a young man who discovers at age 11 that he’s a Sign Seeker, last of a group of immortals dedicated to fighting a growing presence of dark forces. He comes to the realization that he’s charged with saving the world.

The new co-finance partnership between Walden Media (‘The Chronicles of Narnia’) and 20th Century Fox is about to launch a new franchise which it hopes will appeal to the young adult market.

Variety is reporting that Cunningham is presently in Romania preping the film for an early 2007 start.
