Ann Peacock to write “American Girl”

Ann Peacock has been brought on board to write the screenplay for Walden Media’s “American Girl.”

American Girl, a Mattel subsidiary, is a popular line of historically accurate dolls and books for girls. The film will focus on one of the line’s characters, Kit Kittredge, who grows up in the early years of the Great Depression.

Goldsmith-Thomas Prods. and Julia Roberts’ Red Om Films are producing the project.

Peacock was one of the screenwriters on Walden’s “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” last year’s big-screen adaptation of the classic children’s story by C.S. Lewis.
